The Wall Street Journal reports: Tampa's hotel sector is hoping for a boost when the Super Bowl comes to town. But the economic hard times have raised questions about whether projections on fan spending will be met.
Meanwhile, the metropolitan area ranked 22nd out of 100 metropolitan areas nationwide based on the estimated value of commercial properties facing possible financial trouble, according to Dan Fasulo of commercial-property researcher Real Capital Analytics. These troubled properties were valued at about $1 billion and included mostly rental apartments and some limited service hotels, he says. Real Capital defines potentially troubled properties as those with loans that are maturing this year as well as those with other financial stresses including stalled development or bankrupt tenants.
