Commercial real estate starting to lose luster
The Houston Chronicle reports: No longer protected by soaring energy prices and rapid job growth, Houston’s commercial real estate market is headed for choppy waters.
Dan Fasulo, managing director and head of research for Real Capital Analytics, a New York-based research firm, said he doesn’t expect any new construction projects to be started this year, unless, perhaps, a tenant has agreed to take the majority of the building.
Some projects under construction may be shut down.
“It’s like playing black jack and doubling down. If you know you have a losing hand, you just don’t do it,” Fasulo said.
